Sendas exists to help change the trajectory of Honduras.
We believe that Honduras can achieve a prosperous and stable economic future—driven by broad-based growth that meaningfully reduces poverty.
We are a Honduran-led, independently funded, and nonpartisan organization. Our only interest is the long-term future of Honduras and its people. Our work is grounded in rigorous analysis, informed by global context and best practices, and shaped by diverse perspectives.
We will partner with government, private industry, civil society, and grassroots efforts—driven by a steadfast belief that Hondurans, working together across sectors and within communities, can drive substantial and lasting change. Together, we can shape policy, design practical strategies, and create investment opportunities that benefit all.
Our initial focus is on a think tank that informs and guides our work, allowing us to deepen our understanding of the Honduran economy and identify opportunities for innovation and broad-based development. Our goal is to build a leading Central American think tank: a trusted resource for Honduran citizens and policymakers, and a vital bridge to global researchers and institutions.
Over time, Sendas will evolve into a platform of interconnected initiatives—aligning policy, execution, and investment to accelerate Honduras’s path to shared prosperity.
Sendas is founded and primarily funded by Billy and Carole Alvarado. Billy was born and raised in Tegucigalpa. Carole was born and raised in Hawaii. Both have spent most of their careers working in California for tech companies including eBay and Apple. Billy was most recently an early employee and executive at Stripe.
