Sendas is an independent research organization that advances the economic development of Honduras. We deepen understanding of the country's economic challenges and opportunities, and support sustainable growth strategies that reduce poverty. We have no ties to political parties or private-sector interests; our only interest is the public good and the country's future.

Our work is grounded in rigorous analysis and shaped by global context. We seek practical recommendations that can achieve real-world impact.

We build independent capacity — in people, resources, and institutions — to help Honduras reach a more prosperous and resilient future. We collaborate with public officials, private industry, civil society, and local organizations, in the belief that Hondurans working together across sectors and within communities can create lasting change.

Sendas was founded by Billy Alvarado, an early employee and former Chief Business Officer at Stripe, the global technology company that builds economic infrastructure for the internet. Born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Billy graduated from Academia Los Pinares before earning degrees from Georgia Tech and Stanford Business School. He lives in California with his wife and Sendas cofounder, Carole Kennedy Alvarado. Together, they fund and steer the work of Sendas.
